What is a run-in shed?
A three-sided shelter with an open front that horses walk into and out of on their own. There's no gate and no front wall. Every run-in shed here is a steel frame with a PBR metal roof, in 12 x 12 ft or 12 x 24 ft.
Which run-in shed has metal walls?
The three-sided metal shelter. It has metal siding on three sides, an open front and a flat metal roof. The 12 x 12 ft kit is 3 shelter panels, 3 Z-purlins, 16 PBR panels 12 ft long, roofing screws, 6 clamps and 4 ground posts, for $2,295.95. Choose 12 x 24 ft on its page. There's no wood to buy.
Metal walls or wood walls?
Metal walls come in the kit, ready to put up, with no lumber to buy: the 12 x 12 ft metal shelter is $2,295.95. Wood walls are the loafing sheds: a steel frame with C-channel that holds 2 in boards you buy and cut, under a sloped roof. The 12 x 12 ft wood loafing shed is $1,595.95 before the boards. The wood is not included.
Open rails or solid sides?
Rail-sided shade shelters cost less, and air moves through the rails. They start at $1,295 for 12 x 12 ft with a flat roof and 4 rails. Solid sides, in metal siding or your own wood boards, close in the back and both ends.
Which way should a run-in shed face?
Plan the open front around your prevailing weather, drainage and the way horses come and go. Keep the water coming off the roof away from the entrance and from any pen next to the shed.
What do I need besides the run-in shed kit?
Concrete for the four ground posts, which every kit includes with hardware. Boards, if you pick a wood loafing shed. A level, well-drained spot to put it on. Installation, if you want it, is quoted separately. Shelters are not engineered structures and aren't built to a building code, so check local codes and permits before you order.
How much does a run-in shed cost?
The 12 x 12 ft three-sided metal shelter is $2,295.95. Wood loafing sheds are $1,595.95 and $2,549.95, plus the boards. Rail-sided shade shelters start at $1,295. Those prices are bare metal; dapple grey, black or a custom powder coat costs more. Freight to your address is shown at checkout, before you pay.
