Three 12x24 Stall Side by Side 5-rail

Size against the horse. Twelve by twelve is the American standard and suits most horses. It is enough room to turn, lie down, and get up again, which is the actual requirement.

Go to 12x24 or larger for a horse over about 16 hands, a mare and foal, or anywhere turnout is limited and the horse spends real time standing in.

12x24 is a stall with a run attached rather than a bigger box. The horse chooses whether to be in or out. That does more for soundness and temperament than square footage alone.

20x20 and 24x24 are large enough to foal in, to keep a recovering horse comfortable, or to hold two that get on. The 10x20 is the compact option where ground is tight, and only as a pair.

Freestanding means no barn. Nothing here hangs off an existing structure. These are freestanding stalls with their own welded frame. That is usually the largest saving in a stall project, because you are not building or modifying a barn to hold the stalls up.

It also tends to be a simpler conversation with a planning department than a permanent building. That varies by county. Call before you order, not after.

We do not sell stall fronts that bolt into a barn you already have. If that is the job, this line will not finish it.

Add-on stalls and how a row grows. An add-on stall shares a wall with the stall next to it. It costs less than a standalone of the same size and uses less ground. A 24x24 add-on runs a few hundred dollars under the standalone kit for exactly that reason.

Plan the row before you buy the first stall. Starting with a standalone and adding on later works. Starting with three standalones side by side means you paid for walls you did not need.

What is published as an add-on: 24x24 open, and 12x24 with a 12x12 sloped cover. There is no 12x12 add-on, no 12x24 add-on without a cover, and no 20x20 add-on. We do not write those as if they were SKUs.

Covered or open. An open stall is fencing. It defines space and keeps horses apart. A covered stall is shelter. In most climates, yes, cover it. Shade is needed more days of the year than rain cover is.

Named cover SKUs on this catalog are sloped. A 12x12 sloped cover over a 12x24 roofs the standing half and leaves the run open. A 12x24 cover over a 24x24 roofs half the box. Sloped roofs shed water and snow.

Shop copy also says flat covers are shade-first and cost less. There is no flat-cover SKU on the catalog. We do not invent one. If you want shade-first and a lower price, confirm that option with the order. Do not assume a flat cover is in the crate.

Snow load is not written on these pages. Confirm it for your site before you order a cover.

Four rail or five rail. Every size we list is 4-rail or 5-rail. The steel is 14-gauge either way. The openings are different. Rail spacing in inches is not printed. Pick the count from the horse and how the stall will be used, then confirm it before the crate ships.

The stall can move. There are no bolted joints in the load path and nothing is tied into a building. A row can be taken down and reset when the operation changes shape. That is the published reason these work on leased ground, a yard that will be reconfigured, or a sale later.

The new ground still has to be fit for a horse. Mats, footing, and floor are not written on these SKUs. Plan that as site work.
